The 8th International Symposium on Spatial and Temporal Databases was held in summer 2003 at the heart of the Aegean sea, the island of Santorini (also called, Thera).

The Symposium brought together leading researchers and developers in the area of spatial, temporal, and spatio-temporal data management to discuss the state-of-the-art in research and applications, and to start setting future research directions.

Important dates:

• Abstract submission for papers: February 24, 2003 
• Paper and proposal submission: March 3, 2003 
• Notification of acceptance: April 7, 2003 
• Camera-ready copy due: April 28, 2003 
• Symposium dates: July 24-27, 2003 

The next SSTD conference will be held in Rio, Brazil (September 2005)

The previous SSTD conference was held in Redondo Beach, CA  (July 2001)

The crystal - clear waters of the open sea
have carved coarse sea sand out of my rocks,
and have given me small colourful pebbles
for my beach.
