"Geographic Privacy-aware Knowledge Discovery and Delivery" FP6-14915 IST/FET Project funded by the European Commission (Joint research with DB Group @ Unipi).
Abstract: The general goal of the GeoPKDD project is to develop theory, techniques and systems for knowledge discovery and delivery, based on new automated privacy-preserving methods for extracting user-consumable forms of knowledge from large amounts of raw data referenced in space and in time.Diachoron (2006-2008)
"Management of spatiotemporal and semantic data for the documentation of historical information", founded by the Greek Ministry of Development, General Secretariat for Research and Technology, co-funded by the European Union (Joint research with DB Group @ Unipi).

"Next Generation Location Based Services", General Secretariat of Research and Technology, EPAN program, 2004-06 (Joint research with RD3 @ (RA CTI))
NGLBS aims at developing the next generation of Location Based Services (LBS). The objective of the project is to exploit recent research findings in the spatiotemporal data handling field to enable the development of an advanced LBS platform providing increasingly complex services implementing algorithms for nearest neighbor search in spatial network databases, advanced routing, in-route nearest neighbor queries e.t.c.
I am also partner of FOTOPO SA, a major spatial data producer and GIS consultant firm in Greece. Currently, I am involved in several GIS-related projects as GIS Consultant and GIS Software Developer. The major projects I have been involved with are:
OTE GIS (2007 - 2009)
I participate as GIS consultant in the project "Network GIS" which aims at digitizing the telecomunication infrastucture data of OTE S.A. (Hellenic Telecommunications Organization).LSO3 (2007 - 2009)
I participate as GIS consultant in the "Large Scale Orthophoto, Area 3 (LSO3)", for the Ktimatologio S.A. (Hellenic Cadastral S.A.). The project's scope is to produce large scale digital elevation model and orthophotos for the area of southern greece approx., 40 K sq.km.Hellenic Cadastral (1997 - 2004)
I have participated in the project of composing the Hellenic Cadastral. I designed, developed and andministered the DBMS and GIS in the process of composing the cadastral in the Municipality of Martino, Prefecture of Fthiotida, and in 10 Municipalities in the Prefecture of Kefalonia.Tahimetria (2000-2009)
I have designed and developed the commercial software Tahimetria used in order to import, edit, manage and analyze survey field data. The software communicates with external data collectors through ASCII files and a wizard, which helps the user to import data from any type of data collector. Several types of topographic calculation are supported: Traverse, Traverse using Least Squares Method, Network Adjustment using Least Squares Method, resection, sideshot and stakout. All the topographic calculations are performed in an autonomous graphical interface. In addition to that, the software communicates with AutoCAD (and AutoCAD based programs) in order to get and set data (such as point coordinates etc). I have participated in the development of the TopoRest software based on AutoCAD. The software is used to organise manage and draw digital ground data derived from survey field data, for the production of topographic plans. The software developed creates digital terrain models (through the TIN model), ground sections, performs geographic transformations between coordinate systems e.t.c. GIS Software used in the Project of the Hellenic Cadastral. The software uses dwg files on Autodesk MAP for the spatial data and connects to a Microsoft Access Database. It has a friendly user interface and it relates the spatial with the thematic data through the so-called "KAEK"; (National Cadastral Code Number). It provides several utilities that can be used in order to make the cadastral process more efficient.
I am very experienced in designing and developing software solutions, mostly related
to DBMS, Spatial DBMS and GIS applications. I typically use Microsoft .NET, SQL Server,
and Autodesk GIS technologies (such as AutoCAD MAP and MapGuide), while I am
a professional developer for pure AutoCAD.
I have also developed applications using ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server,
MapInfo, Mapinfo's Spatialware and Routing J Server, PostgreSQL and PostGIS, MapServer,
and many other GIS related software.
I have implemented advanced indexing schemes, histograms, algorithms and cost models
for advanced query processing in spatial and spatio-temporal databases, both
for research and professional purposes. I have also implemented several image processing
tools for orthophoto production of non developable surfaces.
I really enjoy participating in prominent and challenging software development
projects with spatial databases or anything that seems interesting
